When a new plant and production building was erected in 2017, it was clear that the heating requirements should be covered with renewable energy. The thermal solar system was integrated into the facade to make better use of the winter sun. The solar system covers 80% of the heat demand, and 55,000 kWh of heat are generated annually with the sun. A water storage tank serves as an energy buffer for hot water and heating. In addition, the solar heat is stored via thermal component activation on the first floor, the upper floor and in the garage, where the heat is slowly released into the rooms. Active storage masses with approx. 1 ton of concrete as well as passive storage masses with approx. 440,000 kg make it possible to use the solar yields accordingly over a longer period of time. The choice for the downward insulation of the activated concrete floor slab fell on the recycled material glass foam ballast. The solar power for the woodworking machines is self-produced.
