Care home "Gemeinsam (er)leben"

ÖJAB has constructed the forward-looking Neumargareten nursing home, which includes building component activation. In terms of ecology, the building is innovative, and it also promotes the social integration of people in need of care in a new district with residential buildings, student accommodation, educational facilities, and social amenities.

Living and experiencing life together is the motto at the nursing home in the new Wolfganggasse district. ÖJAB offers 216 residential and nursing places with single and some double apartments. The friendly, bright and inviting architecture with lots of light and glass, green facades, spacious terraces with views over Vienna and a quiet garden for short walks is immediately apparent upon entering. The building features a large multifunctional room with a library, a cafeteria, a workshop with a workbench for crafts, and a mobile kitchen unit that can also be used by residents with severe mobility restrictions. The threshold-free balcony doors allow nursing beds, wheelchairs and walkers to be easily brought into the garden or onto the terraces. All rooms offer nursing and care services tailored to individual needs – either in specific areas or comprehensive care in all areas of daily life.

However, the solid construction also sets new standards in terms of sustainability: a photovoltaic system meets the electricity requirements, and component activation ensures a balanced temperature. The immediate vicinity is home to the Lebenscampus Wolfganggasse, which comprises an ÖJAB home care centre and a variety of projects focusing on housing, education, diversity, and intergenerational coexistence. This 'village within the city' fosters family-like structures. The ÖJAB Neumargareten nursing home was honoured as a project of IBA Wien, the International Building Exhibition of the City of Vienna, for promoting well-being at the Lebenscampus.
