Alpenos Headquarter

The new headquarters of Alpenos, located in the Non Valley, is a perfect example of innovative design and sustainability. The project, developed by the Alpenos team, addresses two fundamental needs: creating a functional and welcoming work environment for a growing team and translating the brand's values and identity into architecture. For this reason, the intervention focused on the redevelopment of a disused area, avoiding soil consumption. The existing reinforced concrete elements have been integrated into a new X-lam structure, a material that reflects Alpenos' philosophy: bringing circularity to the construction industry through executive design and the building of timber structures. The offices and multifunctional spaces are distributed over two floors, while the warehouse covers 800 m². Details in burnt larch add character, while large windows promote a strong dialogue with the valley and the urban context. The project achieved high standards of sustainability and energy efficiency, obtaining ARCA Silver and CasaClima A - Nature certifications.

The new headquarters of Alpenos, located in the Non Valley, is a perfect example of innovative design and sustainability. The project, developed by the Alpenos team, addresses two fundamental needs: on one hand, creating a functional and welcoming work environment for a growing team; on the other hand, translating the brand's values and identity into architecture. For this reason, the intervention has been focused on the redevelopment of a disused area, avoiding soil consumption. The existing reinforced concrete elements have been integrated into a new X-lam structure, a material that reflects Alpenos' philosophy and business: bringing circularity to the construction industry through executive design and the building of timber structures. The offices and multifunctional spaces are distributed over two floors, while the warehouse covers an area of 800 square meters. Details in burnt larch add character to the spaces, while the large windows promote a strong dialogue with the valley and the urban context. In addition to its aesthetic impact, the project has achieved high standards of sustainability and energy efficiency, obtaining ARCA Silver and CasaClima A - Nature certifications.
A model of contemporary construction, where design, technology, and respect for the environment blend into a harmonious balance. The Alpenos headquarters is divided, both functionally and structurally, into two distinct volumes: the office building and the warehouse. The two structures are physically separated by a seismic joint. The Alpenos headquarters is divided, both functionally and structurally, into two distinct volumes: the office building and the warehouse. The two structures are physically separated by a seismic joint. The office building combines existing concrete elements with new timber components. The preserved and adapted pre-existing structure forms the base, while two newly added upper floors are entirely built in timber using 120 mm CLT panels. The intermediate slab is also CLT, with 200 mm panels. The roof features a double grid of glued-laminated timber beams, topped with 18 mm spruce multilayer boards. To stiffen the roof plane, glued-laminated timber ties were integrated within the insulation layer, serving as roof bracing. The warehouse, hosting logistics and storage areas, is designed with a glued-laminated timber frame: beams and columns combined with bracing in the classic “St. Andrew’s cross” configuration. Given the large roof span (about 16 m), an innovative timber-based product has been adopted: prefabricated Kielsteg elements, which offer both lightness and strength.

To ensure durability and healthy indoor conditions, the warehouse’s timber structures are elevated above water drainage levels, both inside and outside.

New European Bauhaus
The Alpenos headquarters embodies the key principles of the New European Bauhaus by combining sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusiveness. The project is rooted in the adaptive reuse of a disused area, thereby avoiding land consumption and reinforcing the value of circularity. The integration of existing reinforced concrete structures with new CLT reflects a conscious approach to material efficiency and life-cycle responsibility.

From an aesthetic perspective, the architecture establishes a strong dialogue with the landscape of the Non Valley. Large glazed surfaces ensure transparency and visual connection, while details in burnt larch provide warmth and identity. The building is not only designed as a workplace, but as a healthy, welcoming, and inspiring environment for people, promoting well-being.

The project meets high sustainability standards, certified ARCA Silver and CasaClima A - Nature, and positions itself as a model of circular, future-oriented architecture. It translates the values of the NEB into a tangible balance of design quality and technological innovation.

Genius Loci
The Alpenos headquarters embraces the spirit of the place (Genius Loci) by responding to the unique characteristics of the Non Valley. Large windows create a visual dialogue with the valley, while the layout maximizes natural light and ventilation. Timber elements are sourced from Austria via Stora Enso, certified FSC and PEF, reflecting local construction traditions and promoting sustainable, circular practices.

Technically, the project combines CLT floors, glulam beams, ensuring energy efficiency and long-term durability. Timber structures are elevated above water drainage levels to enhance longevity and indoor environmental quality.

Relational and collaborative skills were essential. The internal Alpenos team coordinated closely while engaging local stakeholders and artisans. This collaboration ensured technical excellence, strengthened connections with the local context, and created a workplace that reflects both environmental responsibility and community values.
