For the state headquarters of the Maschinenring, the client wanted a structural solid wood building of high energy efficiency with concrete core activation. The addition or stacking of equivalent office units over all three floors forms a balanced proportioned structure structured by balcony zones. At the center of the floor plan is the functional core. With concrete core activation, it not only serves as bracing, but also collects the energy of the solar thermal system on the flat roof.

The projecting base level of the office building forms - accompanied by a fountain and the covered cut - a forecourt situation. In a spacious foyer, the haptic quality of the monolithic, pointed concrete wall is combined with the calm, cultivated aura of the silver fir, which refines the structural woodwork as a top layer. For the exterior cladding, it was used in an untreated, rough-sawn finish, while inside the house it was sanded and additionally oiled for the furniture. (Text: Norbert Mayr in shortened form)
