The goals: The Crinolbau, in need of renovation, was to make way for a contemporary and economical replacement building that respects its historical significance. The implementation: 2226 Emmenweid is a manifesto for sustainable building - in terms of urban planning and energy. After intensive analysis of the site, an innovative building was created that nevertheless fits into the existing ensemble. The key features: 2226 Emmenweid offers maximum comfort without classic air-conditioning, heating and ventilation technology. Temperature stability is ensured by nearly 80-centimeter-thick, two-layer masonry and a low proportion of glass. The room temperature is supported by waste heat from users, appliances and lighting. Sensor-controlled ventilation wings regulate temperature and CO2 levels, ensuring a sense of well-being in all seasons.
